Rod went yesterday to pick up three of the seven equines we’re going to rescue this week. These minis – two mares and a stallion – are very malnourished and thin under their fluffy coat as they were left without food by their owner who’s been unable to take care of them.
The stallion has his hoofs in a very bad condition. Our farrier Enrique is coming today so the little guy’s going to have his feet trimmed. Obviously, he also has to be castrated as soon as possible, before the arrival of heat and flies that can cause infections. And last but not least, because they were kept with him, the two mares are possibly in foal, we’re waiting for the visit of our equine vet Dorothea to check them. We may actually end up with more than seven rescues – that won’t be the first time.
In the next two days, Rod is going to pick the four other ones up. We’re particularly worried about one of the youngsters who’s extremely thin.
We’ll keep you updated, thanks for your support!
